Christmas time is coming up and we’re all looking for new activities for our students to do. But you don’t necessarily want to waste a lesson on Christmas colouring / crafts / games. So here are some Christmas conversation cards you can use with your higher level learners (B1+). You can incorporate the theme of Christmas, whilst still doing meaningful speaking and language practice at the same time.
The conversation question cards can be used in a variety of ways – ask and answer in pairs, class discussion, competitions, etc. See our blog post on the Top 10 ideas for using conversation question cards for more ideas.
Please note that the questions are dedicated to talking about personal experiences about Christmas. If you are teaching in a country where Christmas isn’t really celebrated, they are probably not suitable. But for those of you who teach students who have experiences of Christmas, they are a great way of recycling B1+ language: present perfect, future, conditionals, etc. Also, they are a good way of preparing for the Festivals conversation topic at GESE 5.
Hope you enjoy them and have a great Christmas xxx
